If on the other hand, you are referring to what I will term “sonic qualia”, the personal, individual Snoopy walking in the snow Merry Christmas shirt of detecting a particular sound, then obviously if there is nobody there to experience these qualia, then they don’t exist. But of course human beings are probably not the only animals that experience such qualia, so you would have to remove all life from the area of the falling tree to ensure that sonic qualia were not stimulated.
